Causing Panic via Twitter a Right, or a Crime?
Remember the old civics class in school where the teacher explained that shouting fire in a crowded theater is not protected speech? Well, now technology has to address the same issue with Twitter.Amplify’d from www.bbc.co.ukMexico ‘Twitter terrorism’ charges cause uproarWhat began as a few messages on social networks Twitter and Facebook has grown into a heated debate about freedom...

iPhones for the Army
I love to see that we are fitting our soldiers with the best tools we can to help them. They deserve it. I imagine that there will be some great secure apps that the public may never see that will help them track and identify the enemy in the field.Amplify’d from www.loopinsight.comThe U.S. army is heading into a world where every soldier will be connected by a smartphone. What Does Your Phone Say About You
Many people define themselves to create an image of how they appear to others. It’s vanity, if you will. Besides this being a total waste of time, energy, and money, it often does not create the impression they desire. Phones have become statements about who we are much like cars did 20 or 30 years ago. A guy with a Corvette was perceived much differently than a guy with a VW Beatle. This...

Verizon is Jumping into Seattle's 4G Swimming Pool
Verizon’s entry into the Seattle 4G network by year’s end may just be the “tipping point” for me to get a new 4G iPhone next year. With download speeds more than 5 times faster as the 3G network, it’s going to be a significant speed bump!Amplify’d from crosscut.comThe majority of today’s smartphones such as the iPhone or Droid X support 3G service, providing...

Verizon iPad configuration speaks volumes
So the fact that they are bundling the MiFi (basically a WiFi dongle) probably means you can Skype calls. And the fact that they are moving ahead and offering an iPad with no G3 support could mean that when Verizon comes out with the G4 network there may be both an iPhone and iPad versions. G4 networked iPads would be able to handle video bandwidth better, making an upgraded iPad with a camera...

New Google Groups "Overly-Social"?
To me, these new Facebook Group features seem the perfect medium for those huddled conversations among groups of friends who hang out together already and have a rapport and/or common interests the feel a need to talk about. It’s like the modern-day office water-cooler area. People are comparing it to Wave or Buzz, and it has some similarities. But he quick and easy way you can jump in or...

Inside the mind of an Apple Fanboy

Technical Support
Calling Technical Support can be frustrating. Sometimes we have to go through a series of automated questions just to get in queue for a long wait. Then, when we finally do get to speak to someone, they may not be able to help us anyway. But it’s worth looking at the experience through their eyes. They face a wide range of challenges and need to have a huge amount of patience. This clip is...

Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube in the 1950's
I’d love to see a “Leave it to Beaver” episode where Beaver drops his iPhone and tries to lie is way out of it. I can hear it now. “Gee, Wally. It just slipped out of my hand and dropped while I was crossing the street.” And Wally responds. “Sure, Bev. But you were texting Mary Lou and not paying attention. And because of that, a car honked at you. THAT’S...

Advice from Experts →
Profound statement indeed. People who are experts sometimes think they know the only way to create success. The truth is, life is dynamic, not static. And depending on who, when, where, and a lot of other factors, a completely different approach may be better.

This substantially raises the bar for Seesmic. It seems now TweetDeck will need to match this move to stay competitive. I think TweetDeck and Bit.ly would be a be a good match, or maybe StumbleUpon, which has Su.pr. http://bit.ly/5bKvM0 Posted via web from jimreppond’s posterous | Comment »

How Google became Microsoft
I remember quite clearly how in the 1980’s Apple evangelists used to refer to Microsoft as the “evil empire”. It was a thinly veiled analogy to the then-popular Star Wars “bad guys”. Nowadays we look at Google as the “big brother” who may have grown too big for their britches and need to be taken down a notch. http://bit.ly/8bhOP0 Posted via web ...

I'm not sure why this needs to be a hardware-based product. It seems like you could incorporate this functionality into existing applications on mobile devices, such as "Bump" for the iPhone and Andriod. (HT to Joseph Ferrara @ SellsiusRealEstate.com)
